Mental Health Integration Support (MHIS) Volunteer

Work with our staff in our mental health program to assist in the facilitation of programs for residents at the Cottonwood, Connelly and Cypress Lodges on the Riverview grounds in Coquitlam and Timber Creek Tertiary Facility in Surrey. 


  • Help residents become acquainted / reacquainted with the public transit system.

  • Assist staff in the facilitation of programs and activities for residents.

  • Encourage and assist the residents to participate in recreational activities.



  • Knowledge of mental health concerns.

  • Have an interest in the mental health field.

  • Work without bias or pre-judgment.

  • Be honest, responsible, and have respect for the individuals.

  • Have excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


  • Must be 19+ years of age.

  • Must be able to commit to 6 months of weekly 4-hour shifts.

  • Must pass a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

  • A COVID-19 vaccination card is required to volunteer.
