Mary Brown leads a steering committee operating under SHARE Family Services towards independence. With funding from the Ministry of Social Services, the Greater Coquitlam Volunteer Bureau officially registered its name on August 11th and established an office at Vanier Elementary School in Coquitlam, BC.
United Way Partnership
The Greater Coquitlam Volunteer Bureau became a United Way member agency and received its first service delivery contract with the Ministry for Mentally Disabled Adults.
Volunteer Integration Program
The Volunteer Integration Program is launched, which advocates for adults with developmental disabilities in volunteer roles and supports adults on their road towards independence.
More Reach, More Change
Expanding in reach and capacity, a special resolution passes to change the Greater Coquitlam Volunteer Bureau’s name to the Greater Coquitlam Volunteer Centre.
With an increase in reach and capacity, the Greater Coquitlam Volunteer Centre registers as a charity and changes its name to the Fraser North Community Volunteer Connections Society, using Community Volunteer Connections as its public name.

Festival of Volunteers
The first annual Festival of Volunteers is launched in New Westminster at the Royal City Centre Mall. The name was later changed to the Tri-Cities Volunteer Festival a year later.
The Flying Squad
The Flying Squad formed with 45 youth members and with support from Coast Capital Savings as one of the first major sponsors.
Community Volunteer Connections partners with Fraser Health Authorities to provide the Mental Health Integration and Support program, a volunteer support program for adults with mental health challenges.
Strategic Plan Analysis
With food poverty, mental health, and homelessness increasing, demand for support is on the rise. Community Volunteer Connections performs a strategic plan analysis to evaluate our impact which results in a revision to its Mission, Vision, and Values statements.
Adapting with the times, Community Volunteer Connections updates their brand image with a new logo and colour palette. The logo is adjusted in 2021 to increase its contrast.
