The TCSPN December 2018 Making Connections Newsletter

The Tri-Cities Seniors Planning Network started with a year-long series of focus groups and surveys with non-profits, for-profits, municipal planning staff, seniors' organizations, and health agencies, funded by the United Way.

Building an Age-Friendly Tri-Cities means looking at housing, social inclusion, transportation, access for isolated seniors, bridging to immigrant seniors, lifelong learning, and coordinated services for seniors.

In April 2012 the research team reported results and identified community priorities at a Tri-Cities Seniors Forum. The Forum attracted 80 attendees and resulted in 28 people, a mix of seniors and service providers, signing up to stay involved in seniors planning initiatives.

In October 2012, we held the first official meeting of the Tri-Cities Seniors Planning Network.  The Network meets monthly; please check the sidebar for upcoming meetings dates and locations.  Current membership for this committee has grown to 75 individuals and/or organizations.

Your Host:  Community Volunteer Connections

Community Volunteer Connections is passionate about engaging volunteers in all levels of community building, from planning to service.  We see the Tri-Cities Seniors Planning Network as an excellent way to engage volunteers in the work of planning an age-friendly community, and as a platform for generating and supporting programs and projects built and led by volunteers.

What is a host agency? Check out our Hosting Report.

If you are a retiree and/or senior living in the Tri-Cities, we invite you to join us at our next Network meeting – see the sidebar for more information.
