How Does it Work?

Giving your time and energy to a worthy cause is a great experience, but before you do, think about how you would like to spend your time.

How responsible do you want to be in your role? Do you prefer working in a group setting, or independently? Reflect on your personality and availability.

What's Your Availability?

A few hours a week? Once a month? It's all about fit. Reflect on how much time you have to offer. When seeking volunteer jobs, ask about requirements.

What to Expect?

Organizations will ask you to complete certain steps before volunteering. Here are some possibilities you may be asked to go through:

  • Provide information on your past experiences, and interests.
  • Schedule in-person interviews, phone interviews, or virtual interviews.
  • Complete a criminal record check and provide referrals.
  • Complete a vulnerable sector check.
  • Go through orientation and training for your position.
