CVC News
We’ve hired someone new! Danielle George joins our team as the Coordinator of Community Engagement & Volunteer Resources. Danielle has a long history of working with volunteers, non-profits, and the public. Her contribution includes managing CVC’s Volunteer Job Fairs, referring volunteers to opportunities, facilitating public outreach events and the Youth in Action project, as well as organizing speaking events in the communities of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody.
Danielle was raised in Kansas and lived in 4 different states before immigrating to Canada in 2020 with her partner. Before coming to Canada, Danielle received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology at The Evergreen State College in Olympia Washington. She has a long history of living a vegan lifestyle, as well as advocating for social justice and animal welfare. She passionately believes the three values have many crucial intersections.
While living in the Pacific North-West, she helped foster community through food with her bakery for over five years before becoming the volunteer & event coordinator with NW Veg in Portland, Oregon. She began honing her volunteer coordinator skills during the grassroots roller derby revival in the early 2000s and enjoyed using her presentation skills to teach sports officiating workshops and volunteer engagement practices all over the world, including Australia, Mexico and Scotland.
Since moving to Canada, right before the pandemic, Danielle & her partner Eric have so far fostered 7 cats and 4 dogs and look forward to helping many more. She currently sits on the Vancouver Humane Society board to further her interest in advocating for animal welfare.
Her favorite tv show is The Good Place, the app she can’t do without is TikTok, and something most people don’t know about her is that she’s been a certified pest control technician specializing in bedbugs.
Welcome to Community Volunteer Connections Danielle!
